Here you have my BMW 320i SE, 1995 model.I have owned this car since 2007, but unfortunately it is now going to cost me too much to repair, and put back ...> on the road, so is now going to be sold as seen.The car is currently SORN`d so has no tax or MOT. So is for sale as spares or repairs, and would need to be trailered/towed away. It could make a good project car for drifting or something of the like.The car does start and drive, however is sitting on a private drive waiting for a new owner so will need jump cables to start. The vehicle is currently stored on a private road, so any test-drive will have to be done on the same road.I`ve had many years of driving pleasure from this car, it`s never really let me down, like i said it`s just going to cost me too much to put it back on the road, and i have another vehicle anyway. There is rust bubbling around both rear arches, and both front wings have a ding in them (both issues shown in photo`s). The laquer on the bonnet has begun to peel away, but i`m not sure you can see this on the photos, and there are plenty of other scratches and minor dings around the car...it is by no means `showroom` standard. The passenger side electric window is off of its runners, however all of the electrics work fine. And the last point i can think of is that the drivers side lock is a little stiff so i have been opening the car from the passenger side, which does activate the central locking.I have the V5C document, and one set of keys, the car has at some point had an alarm fitted, and i have a fob, but since i`ve owned the car i could never get it working.The car currently has a Sony stereo head-unit with CD player and USB connectivity, which may stay with the car if i get a good enough price, however this can be discussed with the winning bidder.The interior is in quite good condition considering the age of the vehicle, there are no rips or tears on any of the seats, just a very worn patch of carpet by the clutch pedalThe MOT failure notice is quite long, so i will not list it here, if you want details of the failure points please contact me through ebay.Despite all of the bad points the car has now, I have loved owning this car and had many years of trouble free motoring, it`s been a pleasure to drive and has served me and my family very well over the years.I would like the winning bidder to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50 via pay-pal upon winning the auction, and the balance, in cash, on collection of the car. The ticklist probably says most of it. Mine for the last 15 months, just bought another car so this has to go. Arguably the best colour for the Compact ...> - black, grey full leather interior, armrest, parcel shelf with extra luggage compartment, clear rear lenses, 6 disc CD autochanger, computer, traction control, split rear seats, air conditioning, climate control, electric windows front and rear, new rear tyres, new front discs and pads, long MOT and reasonable tax - to August 2012. The Diesel Compact is no slouch, 150bhp on tap gives good acceleration, a top speed of around 130mph and motorway mpg of almost 60 to the gallon. I use it for a mixture of town and A road commutes and get around 50 to the gallon - its cheap to run. Long service intervals of around 12 to 15,000 miles, no cambelt to change (its chain driven) and cheap servicing - last serviced at Benz Bavarian the Duffield based German car independent specialist and 10,000 miles before the next one is due. Front suspension bushes changed at its MOT in March, along with front brakes, discs and rear tyres - by the time it is sold there will be two new ones on the front as well and no issues. It drives extremely well, cheap to insure - fully comprehensive came out at £188 fully comprehensive and with Class 1 business use. Any other questions please ask, I will post some more pics as soon as I can. Please note that I don`t sit waiting for questions and may take a day or so to answer. I`m also away between the morning of 22nd of May and back on the afternoon of the 25th. Oh, and please note that the gearbox is 5 speed not 6 speed - ebay`s auto-completion data is wrong Remember, you are bidding to buy not to haggle. You can come and have a look and I am happy to drive you up the road in it but unless insured, with photo ID, the full asking price in cash then you will understand if I won`t let you drive it. Sorry. So, now i am forced to sell this and look for a 4/5 door family car!I have loved owning and driving this car, so much so i am actually looking for the 4 door version of the same!I do alot of driving around town but also some constant speed road driving and i am currently averaging 50+ mpg! Thats without being too steady! It has surprised me a bit with how economical it is with still being pretty nippy! It has 150bhp and a fair bit of torque so it doesnt hang about.Comes as standard with:BMW business stereo with controls on steering wheelCruise ControlAuto dimming rear view mirrorRear parking sensorsAir con / Climate controlAlarm / ImmobilserFront fog lightsAutomatic window shut feature when you press and hold lock on remoteFront and rear interior lightsfront map reading spot lightsAlloy wheels (all decent tyres)Boot release button on key fobRemote central lockingProbably more but cant think!Recently serviced including air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, oil filter and 5w40 fully synthetic oil (oil breather filter has been replaced with uprated lifetime vortex breather)Brand new Exide batteryAlso, had the common problem of intermittenly not starting, fuel pump related. Changed the pre supply fuel pump and now starts first time every time.Runs and drives really well, decent acceleration with great fuel economy!Afew things to point out...Slight markings on paint work, may need a bit of touch up or t-cutRear wiper recently stopped working but hasnt bothered me, probably simple fix but i havent looked into itBiggest problem is the in car heater system, it will kick in when the engine isnt on, im pretty confident it is the heator "hedgehog" which is like the resistor, will cost around £40 from ebay for the part and shouldnt be hard to fix.I just take the fuse out (i have marked which one it is) when i leave the car and replace it when i need it. It works fine generally.It will make the fiancee very happy if i sell the car as quick as possible so i can look for a bigger car but i will quite happily keep it and fix everything and sell it for a fair chunk more than what im asking now! So no silly offers please!Like i said before, i am so impressed with this car (even with the niggly faults) i would quite happily go and buy a 4 door version of the same. Even the cheapest performs strongly, but the 320d really hits the sweet spot for cost, economy and emissions. It's all the car most of us will ever need.That's not to say it's all the car we'll ever want. The more powerful 330d and 335d are quicker and more desirable, with extraordinary muscle and surprising economy. They're every bit as swift as the big six-cylinder petrol models, which cost more to run.Thanks to Efficient Dynamics fuel-saving measures, though, even the petrol versions are cleaner and greener than most rivals.ES versions come with a reasonable rather than generous level of kit. The SE adds more toys, but on balance the ES is better value. M Sport models have a sportier feel, with lowered suspension and larger alloys. It's also worth looking at the Exclusive and Sport Plus editions, while inclusive servicing packages are available, which make budgeting easier. On the one hand it’s a constant reminder that even 150bhp is no match for a slippery road and modern tyre technology. And on the other, it makes a dreadful racket on the windscreen, chinking and fizzing as it hits the glass and flows over the roof. Yes, that’s right, the new 320i is now so refined that on a sodden motorway cruise the most irksome noise intrusion is precipitation-slap. At one point I think I heard the engine, but in fairness it could have been climate control playing with the ambient. There can be no doubt that this is a very talented car. Running through the mental check list of what it needs to achieve I’m at a loss to find any serious deficiencies. Perhaps the rear seat could better accommodate six rather than four buttocks. A water temperature gauge is often useful and grey cloth always triggers NHS comparisons. Otherwise, it’s a gem. Which very few people will buy. Under the bonnet As a founding member of the league against diesel engines, I feel compelled to recommend this car to you above its 320d compatriot, but unless you’re a bigot (like me) or have a rare medical disorder precluding the use of diesel pumps, I’m going to struggle. The case for the defendant, the sweet little 320i, is quite simple. It will rev. Select second gear, push the long-travel throttle into the carpet and watch the rev needle swing all the way round to the number seven. It’s a decent puller, with 148lb ft of torque at 3600rpm and there’s enough of the 150bhp available at the top end to make exercising the rev needle a worthwhile experience. It has to be one of the smoothest, most neatly installed four-cylinder engines ever produced. But then we already knew that because it’s the same Valvetronic unit that was installed in the 1-series last year. In which, incidentally, it was also very good. But the 320d has so much more muscle (251lb ft, 163bhp), making a case for the petrol engine is difficult in the extreme. Even so, I’ll try. Right. It’s um, well it’s not a diesel for a start. And the spec sheet tells me it’s 95kg lighter on the scales. Ah ha. This matters. Never has there been a sweeter-handling front-engined, rear-drive small saloon than the 320i. If you love nothing more than feeling the integrity, balance and agility of cars, then I can honestly recommend this car over the 320d. That will probably account for less than 50 people in the UK, but it’s a fact all the same. Breaking down what it is about the handling that most impresses is nearly as tricky as the process above. The steering is bang-on for accuracy – not perfect for feel – but better than anything else in the class. The Michelin Primacy run-flat tyres finally confirm that the Bridgestone RE050s used on the new 5-series were sub-standard, because this car rides beautifully. Not softly, but with a well-damped precision that’s normally the preserve of much more expensive cars. But perhaps the single thing that clinches the deal is the immense rigidity of the 3-series chassis. In most road cars this is a difficult thing to assess, because most begin to shimmy under similar loads. Not the 3-series: it will thump into hideous lumps and ruts without the shell shaking or the steering column shuddering. What a platform for suspension and ultimately wheel control. In the cabin And another thing: although this isn’t particular to the 320i, the 3-series now feels fine without several thousand pounds-worth of extras bolted on. This is important, because it will hopefully persuade people to stick close to the £22,590 list price of this SE model. Clear instrumentation and expensive materials will doubtless tempt even more people out of their VW Passats and Ford Mondeos than its predecessor managed to. The heater controls are a touch low, but otherwise it’s a good place to work. Being the everyman’s Three, it also makes do without any kind of iDrive, which in my book is a good thing. BMW is asking an interesting question with this car. The 320d is £1800 more than the 320i. That’s a significant difference, but whichever way you approach it, the diesel car has to win. After three years it’s inconceivable that the petrol car would be worth anything within £2000 of the oil-burner. And the performance gap is widening by the minute: BMW claims that the 320i is just 0.7sec slower to 60mph, but we’ve just clocked a 320d at 8.0sec dead for the 0-60mph sprint, and its advantage really lies in the gears. Subjectively, the diesel feels much faster. So the 320i moniker is destined to become even rarer than it was on the last-generation Three. It’s been a curious, perpetually altering badge for BMW’s small saloon. Once a four-cylinder, then a six of almost identical capacity, then a 2.2-litre six and now a 1995cc four. Throughout the past two decades its power has barely altered while the car it’s attached to has become heavier and turbodiesels have changed the way we approach the phrase ‘mid-range power’ forever. For some, the brief thrills available in wringing the neck of a petrol engine, combined with that smidge of added agility from having less mass over the front axle probably make the 320i worth a look over the diesel. But otherwise, the sensible money will go straight into a 320d. The 20 means it has a 2 litre engine, and the i means it is petrol rather than diesel. Getting this car was not my choice, I wanted a Ford Mondeo but my husband wanted this car and after much pestering I relented. Not that I have any complaints, it is a great car. Why did we choose it? The BMW 3 series is a highly rated car and had won lots of best buy awards and 5 star ratings for motoring ......class. Top Gear gave it 5 stars, so did Whatcar? where it is a best buy both new and used (and was their car of the year in 2006). Which? gave it 4 stars and a best buy award. All these people can't be wrong and the fact it is so highly regarded helped in the decision making process. It was dark, a bit wet, and a friday night in October. I needed cheap wheels fast after destroying my mercedes 190e. So. The car. One of the shocks was shot, the heater blower motor didn't work, the windows were manual, the engine had a nasty top end rattle, it had done 104k and it stank of fags. I paid £500 for it, one of my sillier moments, but I was desperate. The drive home ......dip, but rather nicely the autobox was excellent. Smooth shifts in and out of every gear at every speed. The following morning I saw it in the light. I wasn't impressed. I then saw the interior in the light, and realised it was more basic than a 1984 Golf. Good stero though, once I'd wired it in. Even better when I got the proper cage on it so it didn't fall out onto my knee every time I accelerated. Prior to owning this car I owned a 525iSE (F reg) and it was absoloutely fantastic...the sort of car that dreams are made of. Unfortunately all things come to an end and I had to sell it. By purchasing a 3-series I thought I was buying more of the same however this was not so. Obviously the BMW had a lot to measure up to. Some of the key stats then - it is a V6 2000cc engine, which means I get similar brake horse power to the 323i Sport - 170bhp compared to 186 bhp (but you wouldn't notice and it is about £3,000 cheaper). 0-60 in about 8-9 seconds, but more importantly they have discs, on the 17" alloys, all round so brakes 60-0 in about 3 secs. The insurance group is 17, but depending on your circumstances, ......to fix, but our local BMW dealer guarantees the smell won't come back within 6 months. They pour a disinfectant into the condenser to kill the bacteria that makes the smell. I would recommend that you go for Sport version since looks better with spoilers on the front. I also hear that the Sport versions are easier to sell if you need to. The list price for this car is normally around £25,000 - 30,000 with the all the extras we have. Advantages: Cheap, fun, imageDisadvantages: expensive if it goes wrong, tricky in wet I have a theory when buying cars, you should either may a lot and get a new or nearly car, or buy cheap, and get a disposable banger, the midpoint is the danger area, you can fork out a fair bit of cash, but still be left with a pup. Not being loaded I usually go for the later option. This doesn't necessarily mean motoring has to be boring though, I've just bought a 1987 320i for £900 which has been very reliable, looks good, and still has a good ......novelty these days, although you do have to be careful in the wet not to put the power down too quickly or else the back end comes round to meet you. The sraight 6 engine is silky smooth, although not much happens at low revs, the power tends to kick in around 4000. The economy tends to depend on how the car is driven, press on and the juice will disappear quickly, but if you drive more slowly good economy is possible. Then the car is very capable of keeping up with the GTIs and faster cars on the road at medium to high speed, but don't embarrass yourself off the lights. Fuel economy is quite impressive for a straight six, unless you push the engine(which is quite hard not to do). The MPG dial gives you an education of what really drains fuel. The gearbox is very smooth and ......changes in the road. BMW have done an excellent job here. The interior of my car is not leather, but still of a good quality. Except for a few things. The steering wheel is not leather. The car was 4 - 5 years older than my current car at the time, but as it was a BMW I decided it would be worth it, and I wasn't wrong. The car has a 6 cylinder, 2.0l engine, with about 150bhp. This isn't a huge amount of power, but it's more than enough to make a pleasant and fairly effortless drive. The car is well balanced and has pretty good sized wheels, 205-55-15R, ......years old it's still a BMW and it hasn't lost much of it's finesse. I'd recommend the car to anyone who wants a nice, comfortable drive, at a reasonably cheap price (they sell for about £700 - £1500), but the running costs are a little high and they're not the most practical car. If someone wanted to hand me down a diesel estate version, well that might be just perfect, but as it is, I'm not complaining ... Forking out 1700 smackers for a mint condition 323i dating back to August 1985 was a calculated gamble. With a full service history and an engine that sounds as sweet as a very sweet thing, my logic is simply that if my lack of mechanical knowledge gets me into a real lemon, then ......still have cost less than running a very average new car for the same period. It goes like stink, and the handling offers far more entertainment than anything I've driven since my first proper car a 205GTI when I was younger and dafter. I have had my car from new for almost 3 years and have been very impressed with the car overall. I was considering upgrading to the newer model but have now had to think twice as I was not to impressed by what I experienced. If you are after a car that is all about comfort and a nice drive than the e46 is the car for you. But if you ......and the ability to totally thrash your car then the e36 wins everytime. The e36 has a more aggresive look to it were as the e46 tells you in it's appearnce that it is a cruising car. I find them brilliant. Ive always driven French cars and of course always paid over the odds for parts, and they have got to be available. Since then I have compaired the prices of possible repairs in the future and the BMW parts, or similar parts are cheaper and more readily available. The driving of the car is very smooth and has a rapid acceleration. There is alot of ......two litre engine. The only problem i have with the car is the high insurance. i can imagine that will change as i am only 23 years old with three years no claims bonus on the ten year old car. It is such a lovely car to drive, everything is in reach of the driver. Fuel consumption isnt great but what can you expect. I average 31MPG. It is quite fast, o-60 mph takes around 8 seconds in the manual and 9 in the auto. Overall it is a great drivers car and i would recommend the car to anybody.
