The BMW warranties when buying from a dealer are bullet proof, just the same as the first year new car warranty, so well worth the piece of mind. Advantages: smooth ride, excellent road handling, effortless paceDisadvantages: could have a bit more power ...miles and bought from a BMW dealer costing £19,000 approximately a year ago. There were others that were cheaper but not from an actual BMW dealer and to be honest the service we receieved from the dealer was very good (Scothalls of Southampton). Ours came with the M sport pack which means you get full leather interior, m sport gear lever and steering wheel. Externally you get side skirts a boot lip spoiler a more aggresive front grill and 18inch ......a pain in the bottom to clean!!!!!!!!!! Saftey is a prime with numerous air bags, abs, traction control to name but a few. Its at this point that I have to tell you my own issues with the traction control. I personally think it kicks in too soon and cuts the power immediately meaning that if the road is slightly greasey and your trying to nip out of a road into traffic you could be in for some serious kangarooing. It was stacked to the eyeballs with gadgets and extras, but I was interested in the engine. Driving this car was quite amazing. The engine is so smooth and so quiet it is easy to go extremely quickly without realising it. The car I drove had BMW's automatic Steptronic gearbox. This means that it can be driven as an automatic (stick it in Drive and leave it) or can be switched to Steptronic mode ......change gears manually by nudging the lever backwards and forwards. In sport mode the automatic changes up a gear once it hits the redline. The engine revs very freely and the 6500rpm redline comes around very quickly. Even with the automatic box, this car accelerates very quickly, and is very quick overall. The car itself is solidly built as you would expect for a BMW. Apart from some minor exterior styling changes and a larger TV screen the only real difference was the new 6 speed manual box. So far this 2nd one has managed an astonishing 33.8mpg since new – over 30,000 miles so far – and only now needs new tyres fairly soon (it came with Continentals – my 1st 330 had Bridgestones – they lasted even ......better than the 5 speed version though – the gear ratios are near perfect and the torque is very impressive in any gear allowing you to use just any 2 of the 6 gears when you are feeling lazy! Amazing. The only fault has been an electrical problem that caused the battery to die but that was replaced under warranty even though I had ignored a recall notice about it! I bought a 330CI sport new about 3 years ago and I still love it. When I took it for it's first test drive I was impressed. I felt solid, accelerated quickly and felt secure on the road. I put my deposit down and 3 weeks later drove it off the forecourt. This car is fantastic. It's exterior looks are obviously eye catching. The interior is comfortable and user friendly. Knobs and buttons are where you'd expect them and there was plenty of storage ......I was not overly impressed with the stereo and one of the rear speakers has blown in the last year, it's covered by the warranty but I haven't got around to getting it fixed yet. What you won't notice on your test drive is exactly how good this car is on the road. The test drive will tell you it's quick in a straight line and feels firm round corners, but once it's yours you'll notice how good it really is. I could go on, and on - drive one and you will see what I mean. - Great - Not the ultimate, but great never the less. ... more I have a 52 plate 330CI which I have had from new. It's approaching it's 7th birthday, and in my opinion is a supurb machine. There was a few nigging faults when it was new, with the windows, quite a common problem, and the central locking has a fit every now and again. It has been through a couple of coil packs too, but they are quite cheap to replace.Enough of the negative points, this car drives like a dream, fast, and responsive when you want. Plenty fast enough to have your partner shouting in your ear to slow down, when you see some open road, but a quiet comfortable cruiser on long motorway runs. It is pretty fuel efficient too. I often get mid 30's MPG on the motorway, and mid 20's around town. Lets not forget this is a 3 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine with 231 BHP and 300 NM torque, so if you are heavy with your right foot you will certainly scoff fuel, and leave large amounts of rubber on the road. The SE specification car is identical to the sport underneath, (sport spec if just cosmetic) but is a bit softer mainly due to 17" wheels. I have updraded these to the MV1 Sport wheels which have hardened the ride, but increased the grip considerably, which I would reccommend.Servicing is not as expensive as the brand would suggest. The variable service indication allows 15,500 or 2 years whichever is sooner. It does adjust to differing driving styles, and if you drive with too much spirit too often, which I did at the beginning, it needed a service at around 10-12,000 which I thought was pretty excellent. I have to also mention the quality of this machine. For example my car has covered 35,000 miles and is still on the original discs and pads on the front (due to be changed soon). That's a lot of driving!The main dealers are much beter than they used to be, and get a quote from a couple before you book. Any car over 4 years old should get a 10% discount on servicing. The 330CI should cost in my experience around £150 for a basic oil service, Then around £200 for an Inspection one, then it would have another oil service, then the big one the Inspection Two which is the major service at around £300. The brake fluid needs changing every two years costing around £90.I know people with Mercedes and Audis who pay far greater sums for some inferior vehicles in comparison to the 330.To sum up a great car, and if you can get hold of an older low milage vehicle fantastic value for money. A good one from a dealer should only set you back around £8,000, which is amazing for a car which costs over £30,000 new. A newer one from a main BMW dealer wlll of course cost a lot more. There were others that were cheaper but not from an actual BMW dealer and to be honest the service we receieved from the dealer was very good (Scothalls of Southampton). Ours came with the M sport pack which means you get full leather interior, m sport gear lever and steering wheel. Externally you get side skirts a boot lip spoiler a more aggresive front grill and 18inch ......a pain in the bottom to clean!!!!!!!!!! Saftey is a prime with numerous air bags, abs, traction control to name but a few. Its at this point that I have to tell you my own issues with the traction control. I personally think it kicks in too soon and cuts the power immediately meaning that if the road is slightly greasey and your trying to nip out of a road into traffic you could be in for some serious kangarooing. It was stacked to the eyeballs with gadgets and extras, but I was interested in the engine. Driving this car was quite amazing. The engine is so smooth and so quiet it is easy to go extremely quickly without realising it. The car I drove had BMW's automatic Steptronic gearbox. This means that it can be driven as an automatic (stick it in Drive and leave it) or can be switched to Steptronic mode ......change gears manually by nudging the lever backwards and forwards. In sport mode the automatic changes up a gear once it hits the redline. The engine revs very freely and the 6500rpm redline comes around very quickly. Even with the automatic box, this car accelerates very quickly, and is very quick overall. The car itself is solidly built as you would expect for a BMW. Report this review Unbelievable. No other words to describe the feel of this car. Everytime i get in the my 330ci M Sport I cant help but smile. Pulling the heavy door closed you know your in a high performance coupe. The noise when you start it up is fantastic, so much grunt and a deep bass note from the twin exhausts. Id say the smooth drive of the car is my favourite part but id be lying, its the attention the car commands. Its a genuine head turner, and you will always catch people checking it out when your at the lights. Pros: Solid Build Unbelievable Performance Genuinely Fun to Drive Fast Safety features are great (thankfully never needed to use them) TV/Sat Nav is a must Cons: If your going to buy a high performance car, don't go cheap on the only part of the car touching the road. Good tyres are pricey. Do not go to BMW for them, my replacements were quoted at £235 per tyre, but they can be bought elsewhere at a fraction of that - replaced the standard RE05s with CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 2 for £149 per tyre. Overall - Without a doubt the best car ive owned. Had it for 2 years, and although I considered upgrading to the new 3 series, the shape of the new one loses the aggression, its too bland. The e46 is a beast of a car, and looks ferocious before you've even turned the key. I can't bring myself to trade it in, i just love this car!
