What Car? says:5 stars out of 5 Read review Buyer's notes Target Price team says: Gone are the days when you had to choose between roadster and coupe versions of the Z4. There’s now a single model that serves as both thanks to a folding metal roof that disappears into the boot in around 20 seconds. Instead, buyers can concentrate on which of the six-cylinder petrol engines they want. There’s a 255bhp 3.0-litre and a twin turbo 3.0-litre that churns either 302bhp or a whopping 335bhp. However, even the entry-level 201bhp 2.5 will be fast enough for most people. At the moment, BMW says it has no plans to introduce any cheaper, four-cylinder engines, but we’d be very surprised if these didn’t follow later in the car’s life. Reliability shouldn’t be a problem, because BMW has a good record in the JD Power customer satisfaction survey. The one unknown is the Z4’s folding metal roof but, like the rest of the mechanicals, it’s covered by a three-year unlimited-mileage warranty.
